How to Read a Siding Report

Each ITEL siding lab report identifies the original product and it specifications, lists availability of the original siding, and if the product is no longer available, gives comparable products. For available products, the report also lists distributor contact information. You can download a sample siding lab report

Report Sections

Each report is divided into easy-to-read sections:

Customer and Loss Info
  • Control Number: Each sample is assigned an ITEL control number when received. If there is more than one sample for the same loss, each sample should have its own Test Request Form (download in Word format) and will be assigned its own control number. The control number matches the invoice number.
  • Area Damaged: Listing the name of the damaged area (example: north relevation) on each Test Request Form helps differentiate reports when more than one sample is sent from a loss.
Original Product Identification
The manufacturer, style name, and specifications of the original siding are listed. The report indicates if the original product is still available and if so, the name and contact information for a distributor.
Similar Products
If the original product is no longer manufactured and the supply of the product has been exhausted, the report will list similar siding styles that can be used in replacement. In addition to the specifications of the match, each product's graph indicates how closely key specifications match the originally installed siding.
