Reading the ITEL Roofing Report
Each ITEL roofing lab report identifies the original product and it specifications, lists availability of the original roofing, and if the product is no longer available, gives comparable roofing matches. The report also lists distributor contact information for the listed products. You can download a sample roofing report
Report Sections
Each report is divided into easy-to-read sections:
- Customer and Loss Info

- Control Number: Each sample is assigned an ITEL control number when received. If there is more than one sample for the same loss, each sample should have its own Test Request Form (download in Word format) and will be assigned its own control number. The control number matches the invoice number.
- Area Damaged: Listing the name of the damaged area (example: north roof slope) on each Test Request Form helps differentiate reports when more than one sample is sent from a loss.
- Original Product Identification
- The manufacturer, style name, and specifications of the original roofing are listed. The report indicates if the original product is still available and if so, the name and contact information for a distributor.
- Similar Products
- If the original product is no longer manufactured and the supply of the product has been exhausted, the report will list similar roofing styles that can be used in replacement. In addition to the specifications of the match, the report will indicate how close the match is to the original product
- Sample Analysis
- The measured physical specifications of the original roofing are listed.
- Additional Comments
- Additional information to help understand the result is listed here. If available, custom remanufacturing options for clay or concrete roof tiles will be listed here.
