Reading a Flooring Lab Report

Each ITEL flooring lab report (download a PDF sample report for carpet, vinyl, laminate, wood, ceramic tile; will open in a new window) contains detailed specifications of the sample, comparable products currently available on the market, and a benchmark retail price.

Customer and Insured Information

  • Control Number: Each sample is assigned an ITEL control number when received. If there is more than one sample for the same loss, each sample should have its own Test Request Form and will be assigned its own control number. The control number matches the invoice number.
  • Rooms Damaged: Listing the name of the damaged rooms on each Test Request Form helps differentiate reports when more than one sample is sent from a multiple-room loss.

ITEL Benchmark

Currently available style equivalents will be listed by manufacturer name and style. On carpet reports, up to four styles will be listed. On other flooring, up to three styles will be listed.

The ITEL benchmark price and labor are itemized and totaled for easy cost breakdown.

Flooring Analysis

The specifications of the tested sample are listed. If applicable, comments to describe any conditions that may have affected analysis will be included. A list of specifications and their meaning can be found in our tutorial.

Carrier Program

If a flooring replacement program has been pre-arranged by the insurance carrier, additional flooring styles may appear here. If not, this section will not appear on the lab report.

Invoice

ITEL’s test invoice is located at the bottom of the lab report (download a PDF sample invoice).
